Be Wary Of Albuquerque New Mexico’s Dark Side

Considering a move to Albuquerque? Thanks to the success of television shows like Breaking Bad from a few years ago and now Better Call Saul that is a spinoff of that show, Albuquerque has become a bit more popular these days. Some things you need to know before considering a move to the state are listed below.

If you’ve ever seen Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul, you know a big part of both of these television shows is the drug trade that is so prevalent in New Mexico. Sadly, drugs are a big problem in New Mexico, especially around Albuquerque. Albuquerque is the largest city in New Mexico, so it makes sense that a lot of the drug trade would be focused there. So before visiting or moving to this area, keep that in mind.

Why is the drug trade so common in the state? Sadly, it’s because the state is a relatively poor state when compared to other states in the US. Drug dealing is probably one of the best ways to make a living in New Mexico. On the flipside, since many in the state live in near poverty conditions, they are more likely to use drugs.

Further, since New Mexico is located right on the border with Mexico, getting drugs into the country and across the mostly unguarded border is relatively simple. It’s this combination of things that has made Albuquerque and the state of New Mexico so attractive drug dealers and the drug trade.

Despite this sad side of Albuquerque, the city still has plenty to offer, and the visual aspect of the beautiful mountains in the backdrop of the city is worth a visit by itself. If you’re into balloons, visit the city in October and take in the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.
